Description Business Windows/Integrity Engineering (WIE) is the R&D lab in HP's Business Critical Systems organization responsible for delivering Windows on BCS's Integrity server product line. Our customers are deploying Windows in mission critical environments on our enterprise class server platforms. Delivering customer-focused, well integrated, high quality hardware and software solutions to the Windows IA-64 enterprise computing community is a business imperative for WIE.
Job Description Provide testing support and sysadmin for our hardware/software release efforts to deliver Windows IA-64 solutions to our customers. These efforts require detailed hardware and software technical knowledge on testing, testing methodologies, sysadmin, and first-level debugging of problems (e.g., being able to determine if it is a user error, test error, or defect in product). This person will be responsible for engineering test/QA/support activities related to Microsoft OS and SP on IPF products. This includes... -Running and developing a wide range of tests for Windows 2003 and 2008. -Providing technical leadership in resolving errors due to software, tools, tests, or Third Party products. -Managing the reproduction and debug of issues identified during testing. -Having a strong sense of issues that might impact the customer (TCE). -Ability to do performance analysis to assess potential defects. -Interfacing with a large number of HP engineers and 3rd Party developers/testers. -Creating test topologies reflecting how a customer would use the product and be easily extensible for future enhancements. -Providing leadership for new tools that will automate the test processes. -Having a good understanding of the customer issues, the business imperatives. Use this knowledge to craft a workable solution under tight deadlines. -Determining ways to increase our test coverage and test effectiveness. -Determining how to test complex, large-scale systems.
Qualifications Required -MS/BS in Computer Science or equal technical background. -Demonstrated expertise in Windows OS, applications, networking, and SAN. -A good command of English - both verbal and written. -Strong inter-personal skills. Demonstrated ability to leverage technology skills by clearly communicating ideas. -Ability to evaluate complex issues that include substantial business, technical, and customer components. Ability to work through a complex problem and effectively achieve resolution. -Identifies and resolves problems prior to becoming critical issues, knows when to escalate issues as needed. -Demonstrated ability to prioritize/plan numerous concurrent tasks with attention to contingency planning. -Demonstrated experience on several projects and a variety of assignments that show leadership in testing, debugging, and TCE methodologies. -Basic knowledge and skills for PC equipment and architecture (A+ certificate is a plus, but not necessary) o The lead has to config HW, knowledge of PC bus, experience of working I/O slots will be useful o Knowledge of PC peripheral equip (e.g., cable types, storages, ...) -Network and SAN knowledge o Frequently the lead will ask to config servers/clients, reproduce the issues and 1st level of debugging. It's important to have basic network skills. o Knowledge of network and SAN switches will be plus. -Windows knowledge: MS windows experience, PC commands and scripts -Storage knowledge. Although WIE don't deliver storages, we do need to test storages.
